MS80s are fun pumps to restore, sometimes the doors are a little warped up and hard to straighten out. I've probably done eight of them. I agree with remove the guts other than computer and eletrical conduits. Rewire all of it using an extension cord is easiest approach. The novelty route is not good, it's better to just have the pump for display IMO. If you want to sell, the novelty part decreases the potential audience and increases cost. The buyer is typically a car guy that wants a pump in his collection, not a gas pump collector guy. Typically wife is involved picking out which pump-colors.
I'd have zero fear doing unusual paint colors, I never do plain red/white anymore on these. You dont want boring, not solid one color, red/black, green/black, yellow/black, silver/green, silver/red, something like that. Not boring, good contrasting colors.
