My initial reaction was it's an original, poorly and incorrectly repainted. It has the arrows around the bottom line, indicative of early crowns. The later ones have slashes, not arrows. This version was never threaded or had a metal collar. Maybe Scott Benjamin will see this and respond. Or you could contact Scott through his gasglobes.com website.
