We usually run an auction 2-3 weeks prior to a show. Given the large size of some of the items, it makes logistics manageable. Other side of the coin, we know we've brought customers to shows who had no idea these shows even existed because they're picking up their stuff. The hobby is growing. With all of the sellers out there, good inventory sells, period. The same you work to bring good inventory to a show to setup, auction houses have to work to get eye balls on their auctions. A lot of people do not have the time to take 2-3-4 days to attend a show, but can sit and watch a few items in an auction. It's hard for an in person vendor to get auction pricing when that buyer isn't there.
