Strange to have a oil sign on a gas pump. I guess the industry was still figuring thing out

Maybe I'm wrong but the pic that Randy posted looks like a different version? I don't see the word "Golden" on it but I can see the pouring oil that should be the same color?

Good point Dave, or maybe the color doesn't show up in that old photo, otherwise it would be a sign I never seen before.

I think I have seen that sign on a pump in my old Texaco books. I know this sign was used on pumps as well. I think this photo is early 30s because of the "Say Yes" sign beside him. That program was from the early 30s and that cardboard sign says "Say yes when we ask to replace summer-worn oil." There were spinners that went on top of the pumps in red and a version in yellow.

I had a Tokheim 600 visable that had 2 of these signs on it. They were both curved & dated in the lower 1930’s. Like the ones Alex posted.
