The Pure Oil Company of Ohio bought the Pure Oil Company of Minneapolis in 1921. Prior to the purchase, the PO Company of Minneapolis sold Energy gasoline. I believe that PO of Ohio rebranded Energy gasoline as Energee. Almost everything I've seen post the 1921 purchase is Energee, and not Energy.
Note "True Gasoline" on the sign. You typically only see this on the Minneapolis Company items. The fact that the sign is blue tells me that the sign was made for the PO Company of Ohio, after the rebranding of the Energy to Energee. Most likely in the early 1920's.

I did a search on "Energy Pure gasoline", The first item I found was from a Montana newspaper with an ad for Energy gasoline in 1922. I'll guess it was shortly thereafter you would begin to see "Energee". You've go me curious...i'll need to do some more searching.

After looking at some of my stored notes, I found the Energee trademark from 1923. I know that "True gasoline" was used prior to 1921, but I can't find in my online stored pictures of the use of the car in any pre-1921 ads. I have more stuff at home I can look at, but i'm away for a few days. I'll take a look when I can and provide more info. I think its safe to say your sign is from roughly 1920-1922. The use of the yellow and black leads me to think it was either from the Pure Oil company of Minneapolis, or immediately after PO of Ohio purchased them.
My 2 cents at this point.

This ad is from 1921, prior to when PO of Ohio purchased PO of Minneapolis:

Based on this, unless I can find a picture of the sign prior to the purchase, it's difficult to determine if it's pre or post purchase. Maybe no one really cares! But it appears that the caption "True Gasoline" was used before and after the purchase.

I'll bet that is tied to the Pure Oil Company. After looking up a few more things. I was able to narrow down the date to late September, 1921 when the Pure Oil Company purchased the PO Company of Minneapolis. I found ads prior to September 21st stating that they are "emphatically independent". I then found the same ads in early October, 1921, with the Pure Oil Company logos. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any stories regarding the actual purchase. Hopefully i'll be able to find something eventually.
