You haven't done anything wrong. A couple of our most active and most knowledgeable members on gas pumps have passed away in recent years. Please be patient to see if a collector with current experience adds his opinion here.
Hard to tell from the photos, but it appears that there could be cracks in the glass cylinders on each pump. If that's true, it cuts the value of the pump by the cost of a replacement cylinder. I'm not sure what to think about the short pump. Never saw one shortened like that.
