I have an old large Canada Dry Wink thermometer that appears to have a grayish haze over pretty much the entire front area. There is a decent amount of paint gloss remaining, but the color is more gray than I would prefer.

Is there a safe cleaning/brightening product that might help restore some of the original white color, while not damaging the thermometer itself?

Thoughts are appreciated in advance...

Id get it wet with some Sani-wax and let it sit for a few hours . Then polish it with a cotton rag.

Thanks - problem is that I am having trouble locating somewhere to buy Saniwax.

Any suggestions?

Just curious.
What is your best guess as to the cause of the haze? An oily film? Dirt? I guess nicotene stains would be more yellow huh?

No idea really - just bought the thermometer about a week ago.

I went ahead and bought the eBay Saniwax, and will advise success when I receive it...

Flitz paste. Buy it on ebay. Your results will be dramatic and you'll wonder why this hasn't been in your cleaning arsenal for decades. Its that simple...
