The only areas of Illinois that have emission testing are Chicago and the surrounding suburbs, and the East St. Louis area.

After leaded gas had been outlawed in Illinois I could still buy leaded racing gas at two stations. One Shell station sold Cam2 (Sunoco) racing gas, and one Union 76 station sold their racing gas. You could only pump it into a trailered cars tank or a gas can. Price was about $3.80 a gallon in 87-88. We could also get Turbo Blue leaded racing gas at the track. Lots of guys burned pistons because they switched from Cam2 or Union to Turbo Blue without re-jetting their carbs. Kinda made me think Turbo Blue was half methanol.
