Back in the 50's, the town on Richfield on old 99w in northern California had a Richfield gas station and a large Richfield eagle sign out front. As a kid, I thought the sign was 20' tall. Probably not, but at least it seemed huge. I have been trying to find a picture of it for quite a while with no luck. I even contacted the historical society there with no luck. Anyone have a picture?

Those "towers" identified Richfield "beacon" stations, which were first built in the 20s/30s, in a very fancy style.

I believe this is the type of sign you remember. This is one of two of these I have been lucky enough to own over the years. They measure 13 ft tall from claws to top wing tip and 9 feet across from beak to tail. I wish I had been able to keep one, but they are huge and unless you have a very large building or hangar they are tough to display.

Randy, I don't remember that one, but that is almost the size that I thought I remembered. Of course, that was at least a week ago! wink Looks like it was in the town of Mt. Shasta?
Mike, where did you find the photos of Richfield?
