I've never seen a Sky Chief sign like this.
At first I was going to ask if anybody ever saw this and if it was a decal that went over the old logo, but upon further inspecion, I believe the whole thing is a decal as I see no mounting screws.
It might be common and I had my head in the sand for years, or maybe it's different to ya'all as well.

I'm guessing they are decals over porcelain plates. Picture appears to be mid to late sixties (from pop machine and pumps) which is the transitional time period for the Texaco hexagon logo.
