Did someone on here get the brochure on ebay this AM ??
They had a different name for the ripples. also steel bodies.
And A cool milk glass swag light that it said was for service station. Fluted milkglass with a globe type mount each end, then a hobnail type glass conical end which is held on with a gill type band!! I actually have one of these..never knew it was a real Gillco!!.. also have another similar milk glass part.
should be under Gillco on ebay as a finished item.
Aso they reffered to lenses as discs anmd they made 3 types of air globes that were pictured!!

This is only here-say. I think when they made the repo ripples they did not sell very well. In fact, I know they did not. It took a couple years for them to catch on and the confusion about them being dated. Any knowledgable globe collector can easily tell the difference. I think it cost alot to make these originally also because of the breakage factor in making them. Seth had them for a while and finally sold out, maybe he can shed some light on them. Out there Seth???????

i heard the reproduced ones had a high reject ratio..that is that you had to make a lot more than you ended up with and scrapping a lot.
Also I seem to recall there was a lot of hand finishing.
Do they not just take specific size lenses of which most are not that plentiful?

Regarding the repro gill bodies I had heard the same problem with a high number of rejects in the manufactoring process. They were made for standard 13 5/16" gill lenses. More common notched 13.5" lenses are too big. I was the winner on the gill globe brochure and would be open to doing some copies. I'll make a post on oldgas about it in the future.
