Just recently added a Glass Gobe frame to my Pump. I have reproduction lenses. It is really scary how they attach and fit. Any advise ?

A little dab of clear silicone on the outside of the lens (glass side, not the printed side) will hold it in place. I usually dab just a little 1/4 inch spot on a couple places, you dont need very much.

Rockman:

Nothing scary about it - as long as the lenses you are using have adaquately deep notches.

Just don't overtighten the nuts - and remember to re-tighten them about twice a year.

IMO - the silicon is not necessary.

Later . . .

I guess a little history would help. I work at a Rock Quarry. I have several of my pumps in my Office which sits at the top of the Pit Highwall. We blast twice a week. Thats whats concerns me. Not ideal conditions for a Pump Globe but it looks good in the office. Thanks for the tips.

I have never used the silicone on a reproduction lens or for that matter on any lens on a glass body before. I will say that I have used silicone on many 15 inch metal framed globes in place of the snap rings, especially on rare lenses that cannot be replaced easily.

You always want to check the fit of the notches on any glass body installation. If you can't move the lens left-n-right a little bit, the notches are not deep enough.

Anybody that needs a lens or a pair of lenses notched deeper, feel free to contact me. If you pay shipping both ways, I'll do it for free. Or you can drop them off at any show we attend and pick them up at the next show.

Later . . .
