I could be wrong but this sign looks like bad work to me. I don't think this was ever a sign to begin with was it? Fantasy item?

DEFINATELY a cheaply made repo!
It's obvious from the pictures BUT the new guys simply dont know...Similar signs surfaced at Iowa Gas several years ago!
Alot of people think these signs are from overseas BUT I keep seeing repo signs coming from North Carolina and Pennsylvania!
Even the seller states that he thinks it's a do over(repo!) or repaint?
I feel he honestly doesn't know and is deceived himself! The repo makers give the signs to unsuspecting sellers or antique dealers to resell! They need to be traced back to the maker...Then Texaco can take everything the REPO maker owns for copyright infringement...

The Minute I saw that sign I knew it was a fake( and I am new to the gas a oil community).
