I've tried to retire from gas pumps for a couple of years now but keep getting calls from old friends. I've never worked on a Tokheim visible before and have some elementary questions. This pump was in his pool house that was destroyed by a tornado. Surprisingly, the pump survived fairly well, only the globe and cylinder getting damage. Pool house is gone of course.

The pump is laying down and he has removed the bonnet and jar lid. The rods don't seem to be threaded into the lower casting but feel like maybe just have a nut on both ends. So if the pump is stood up, will the rods slip into the lower part of the pump?

You are correct, the rods are not threaded into the casting and will drop down if the pump is stood up. I just reverified this on a Tokheim cut 620 I have the metal skins removed from.

not a problem take the skins off the skins go on last anyway

It has very heavy coat of old paint the owner wants to preserve. Taking skins off is not an option at this point.

what is purpose of the two "cups" on the top piece of the 600?

Unknown on the function of these cups fastened to the underside of the jar lid. I have had several Tokheim 600 series with original jar lids which have had at least one of these cups still installed. The location of the cups do not align with the tops of the fill pipe nor the overflow pipe when the jar lid is installed. The fill pipe will align with an umbrella shaped cup that hangs from the jar lid, in your picture that is missing and appears to be broken off its mounting base in the picture it is left of the vent assembly.

I see clips for the gallon sticks at the bottom casting just inside the cylinder but see nothing on the jar lid to hold them. Is something missing?
