Just trying to get the handle off of this pump. Does this screw that is in the bottom of the handle secure the bolt that attaches the handle to the pump? I’m ASSuming so but don’t want to be stupid. I’ve got it laid down and soaking the area in AeriKroil the best I can to try to get it loose.

Just to clarify if my question was misleading, but I'm referring to the small slotted screw that is visible in the upper left photo. Not the knurled bolt that goes through the handle to the pump shaft. Apologies for not being clear.

And maybe these pictures of a handle I have will help. I know there’s several different configurations of Fry handle attachments

Thanks so much for both the link and the photos! That last picture in the link is what I'm looking at also. I've drilled out the set screw and am further soaking the bolt in AeroKroil to see if I can get it loose before I have to break out the big heater. I have reason to believe the bolt is loose in the pump shaft, but frozen solid to the handle.

Good job! So what size is the bolt that threaded into the end of the shaft?

The thread is 3/8-16. The overall length is 2.75” with 5/8” thread protruding. In that picture of your handle, I’m wondering if that is a bushing in it that is meant to replace the original style bolt when used with a regular bolt?

Also, in your handle, is the retaining screw size 1/4-20 or 5/16-18?

Thanks for the pics, maybe I need to put some kroil on mine! The set screw is 3/8 16 and yes it appears to be a bushing w a 3/8 hole through it. Looks like they cut it to length with a hacksaw. I tapped on it and it feels like it’s pressed(or rusted in) as it didn’t want to move.

Kroil is definitely the bomb! Just give it time to do it’s job.
I visited with a local machine shop today to see if I can get a couple made. I’m fairly well convinced it would fit my 87 Tall Ten as well.

This is the door in the 87 that would be locked up after the handle was removed. It looks like the Fry 17 may have had the same thing?
