I picked up a Gilbarco 89, these are tough to find pumps. There’s not much information out there.

I found an older forum thread regarding this pump but with this one being Canadian it looks like there’s a couple small differences.

This is a Canadian model and the actual tag is a 289. I have seen a Canadian Gilbarco parts manual that had a model number identifying it as a M89 and mentions the removable door just below the face bezel for adjusting the VR. This pump doesn’t have the access door on the panels. I also found a picture in a Gilbarco history book with a station lighter attachment showing chrome trim on the door panels. The doors, faceplates and bezels look identical to an 86. Unfortunately I’m missing the vertical ribbed trim on the bezel but other than that it’s a complete original.

The vertical chrome trim is very hard to find. I used automotive peel and stick chrome trim and it worked pretty good for a stand in. You just gotta get the right width.

There is two versions of this pump. The any oil company model with ad glass and no vertical chrome trim on the doors and the other is the TW ( Tidewater ) version with no ad glass, with chrome trim and shoebox globe. Here is mine and a back in the day photo.

Thanks for the feedback I have a line on a couple pieces of the vertical ribbed rim but sounds like peel and stick chrome trim would be a good option. Matt thanks for sharing the Tydol pump it looks awesome!

I was looking over some pictures and came across some Gilbarco 89’s being used at a Maple Leaf station. One of the globes is Maple Leaf ethyl, the middle is Turner Valley Gasoline, and on the end Imperial three star. This station was in Ogden, Alberta.

For a second I thought that was my pump, haha. Not a common one.

Here is the Gilbarco 89 restored as a British American Nevr-Nox. I ended up using the peel and stick chrome as a stand in. It looks the part for now and if I ever come across an original trim piece I can get it swapped out.
