What watt light bulbs are used in pumps?
I'm restoring a Tokheim 36B.

I always use 40 watt old style. Gives enough light but does not get too hot. Paul www.severngaspumps.com

I agree with Paul. I use 40 watts as well. Good soft light, not too bright. Use yellow shades of LED lights…. Looks old and doesn’t get hot. Hot bulbs fade and damage ad glass and globes over time.

Prefer incandescent/filament light bulbs for these type of hobby applications. Originally used in most old gas pumps & advertising globe applications long before LED sources were invented.
A filament lamp is a continuous spectrum light source like our sun. The filament’s low color temperature provides nice soft warm illumination(2700K).

I use 25 watt appliance medium base bulbs sold at HD and other box stores. The 200 lumens via 25 watt bulb provides me plenty of glow especially in dimmer lit rooms.
Want my globes to have a nice glow but not so bright becoming distracting in my living room/globe display while watching TV or sipping bourbon and relaxing.

Don’t care about energy efficiency, being carbon neutral or replacing a filament bulb every couple years.
Color rendering accuracy and originality of light source type are my priorities for this hobby.

Using filament based light source in my master closet helps greatly pick out navy blue vs black dress socks much easier.

Not a LED hater and DO use them for other household applications: 12ft ceiling living room, utility closets, outdoor lighting fixtures, etc..

...I've been using the LED's that look like light bulbs...they light up fine, don't heat anything up, and you don't have to change them for 10+ years...great, when you don't feel like handling your globes unless you have to...
