Been thinking about the hobby and the many changes over the years ... and I've been wondering about all the items I see for sale. How much of this stuff is just being recirculated amongst collectors and how much of it is true new finds?

I would say 15-20% of my stuff for sale is new finds that was just on someone’s property. The rest of the stuff is probably from other collections.

Even though I go picking and find some of the stuff myself, I would think 15-20% is a high number in my opinion.

It definitely depends on how the person shops too. Do they only go to shows, swap meets, estate sales, auctions, picking, etc. Any combination of those will influence a persons percentage.

With that being said, I think 95% of the stuff you see for sale on these sites (especially Facebook) is probably from other collections.

Duane, you brought me good luck. The very next day I got a pump from the original gas station / repair garage that it originally operated at in the 50’s !!
