Any info on this globe lens? Was told it was a station in southern Indiana. I do not know if it is rare? Or very valuable? Any info is appreciated.

It’s in the globe book. It was a company in Greenfield Indiana. Not a common one but not valued that high, around $1000 for a complete globe in good condition. Is this one just a single lens or complete? Looks like the body is cracked or lens taped on in the pic?

It’s a single lens & it’s taped on the body. I haven’t seen it in person yet. A guy I know has offered it to me for $500….. trying to date it and find average value. Sounds like about $1000 if it’s a complete globe. But this being 1lens & not in the best condition I’m guessing it’s value to be around $300….

The seller may have been thinking $200 for a decent original glass body, and $300 for the single lens. His asking price (not saying you want to or should pay the $500) is probably in line, if you work backward from $1000 for a complete globe (figuring the individual prices for two lenses and a good glass body). Plus, aren't the prices in the "globe book" or CD several years old? John

John is right about the price I think. Actually the prices on good original bodies are up to $300-350 so I’d say that single in the condition it’s in with the body would be a decent buy at $500. The value in the last globe cd I’m looking at was $700-900 and I was adding a little for the time passed and inflation we’ve seen in the globe arena since then. It’s hard to price the smaller companies globes that aren’t particularly graphic or have a following, no matter how few of them exist. They were used from 1950-1970 according to the book. Since it’s an Indiana piece you might ask John Jarvis as he’s pretty savvy on most globes from there. I don’t know how often he checks here anymore but he is a moderator on Scott Benjamin’s globe page on facebook and always there. I’d be a buyer on the globe at that price just because it’s unique if you decide to pass on it. Still a neat piece of history.
