I have not posted on the forum for a while as I have not come across many Union signs to purchase lately. I thought this story was worth sharing. I spotted this sign about a year ago in my journeys in eastern WA. It was near a small shop type building but it was Saturday and no one was around. I had a phone number for the shop, but I really wanted to make the call in person. Fast forward to last week, I am back in the area and stop by and talk to the person renting the shop near the sign. He tells me his landlord is a 88 year lady and he will have the discussion with her. I made an offer and he says that he will get back with me. Three days later he calls and says it's a done deal and he already has the sign down for me. A quick trip back to east WA and I am on my home with a painted over sign that I find has about 4 coats of heavy paint and was even an AUTO ELECTRIC sign at one time. The piles of paint preserved the gloss and it does have a few bumps and bruises, but what do you expect from a 75 year old sign. This sign has been on a busy residential street in Wenatchee and I was the FIRST person to ever inquire about it. The lady has lived there since the 50's when her father in law had the UNION 76 station.

Nice story Jim, glad you were able to acquire the sign and give it a good home! I think it looks great. Darin
