I bought a porcelain sign the other day and noticed after I brought it home it had OK underneath it. Someone took an OK Chevrolet porcelain sign and fired porcelain on top of it to make a totally different sign. You can see and feel the cursive lettering outlines of OK exactly like the OK chevy signs. I have seen porcelain signs that were painted over but nothing like this. It will not do any good to post a picture of the sign cause you can't see it. You have to be holding the sign to see it.

Ok, I'll bite. What is the sign fired on top of the OK sign?

Thanks
Mike

Sign is Red and White 19 3/4" diameter. It says "Munson Get Together June" It was a sign made for the Munson family reunion that took place in June of 1987. This Munson guy founded Dennison, Texas which is north of Dallas. The sign is probably worth what I paid for it which wasn't much.

I've had factory tin signs that were resprayed with other brands underneath the paint...also seen some weird porcelain signs. One was a 15 inch Pure Pep SSP (reverse had purol pep however it had a red porcelain coat over the entire surface - you could tell it was purol pep when viewed at an angle). Three or four years ago Matthews auctions sold a larger size Hi Power Husky PPP (orange) that was actually DSP (both sides were the same)...not sure why?

The guy I bought the sign from flips houses. This sign was one of a couple of signs that was found in a house he purchased. He found some blank porcelain signs that were not finished signs.
It's possible whoever lived there before was a porcelain sign maker. One of the other signs I purchased is a blank Sunray oil lease sign. Just has the logo and says "Sunray Mid-Continent Oil CO.. Forgot to mention it is the rare one, it has the BLONDE Sunray logo!!!!

I dont recall ever seeing a sunray lease with blonde sunray...sounds like a "hens teeth" sign! Guy could have worked for Texlite or another porcelain company...I'm sure you can just keep tossing frit on top and sending through the oven...probably was the case with your Once OK sign wink
