I have known others to "sell" their item(s) prior to the economic hold of the divorce goes into effect, then "buy" them back. So, your cousin sells them to you for $2K or $3K....pick a number....no cash changes hands, but you give him a receipt.......then in the divorce half goes to the spouse and then he "buys" them back from you and takes you to dinner and gives you a bottle of fine adult beverage and on we go. Or if you are a mechanic or plumber or have a friend who is, have your cousin get the "engine fixed" on his vehicle...and trades the pumps for it....spouse happy that pumps are gone and auto is fixed....no cash and then get them back after Depending on the divorce laws...I am assuming he didn't acquire them prior to his marriage.....most states it wouldn't make a difference depending on how long he has been married. I know a fellow oldgasser who did that and he only had to shell out 1/4 of the value of his collection. It's not nice...but....
