TESTING: This is a PPG clock I've got working well with a new clock movement and repair of the florescent lighting inside. This clock came to me quite a few years ago. It didn't have any of the press-in letters/numbers for the message board at the bottom. So, as you can see, I had a little fun and created the "ACME AUTO BODY panel, trying to duplicate the feel of the press-in type.

It's a pretty good-sized clock measuring 25" tall by 16" wide by 5-1/2" deep. I do have the clear plastic dome for this clock. I simply didn't install it before shooting the photos. Overall condition is pretty good, with no cracks or chips in the housing or the clear plastic cover. I'm wondering about the approximate vintage of this clock. I'm thinking about taking it to IOWA GAS this year, and am trying to learn a little more about it (even though I've had it sitting non-working for years). Thanks in advance for any help. John

I have a very similar clock with the Ditzler lettering. Love your added display in the changeable lettered message area.

The pPg logo with the middle large P is the modern era logo, starting in the late 1960s. In the prior 10 years, the logo featured the large P in the first position. In the 1980s, PPG was using the Ditzler branding less and dropping most uses of Ditzler in the 1990s.

I'm figuring your clock is probably from the 1980s without the Ditzler wording and mine is a little older.

Ppg logo with first P is largest

Thanks for the helpful information, Jim. Very interesting on the PPG logo dating. I appreciate your reply. John
