Hi, I came across this thermometer on a local auction site. 15" x 9", glass front and it works. The auction site states they have not seen one like this before.
So, has anyone seen this before, and if so, is it truly vintage? I like it, but wouldn't want to spend a decent amount on it if it is repro.

I hope this link works. smile

I've not seen one in my years of specializing in Mobil. The shield says Socony Vacuum, which was the company name from 1931 to 1955, when it became Socony Mobil. I cannot say with any certainty if it's genuine or not.....I've never seen one in use in a period photo.

Thank you! If the bid doesn't go too high, I may just try for it anyways because of it's looks. If I find it's authentic, that much better smile

I’m thinking it is very legit. It has the same format as all the trico windshield wash thermometers. They
Are both identicaly made the same. Probably just not many around. Might be the find of the year! Just
My 2 cents

I agree with Tim above. This MOBIL thermometer is currently bid to $325, with a little over two weeks to go in the auction. John
