I have owned this Frontier gas-pump globe since late August or early September of 1970. I personally removed it from an in-place but no-longer-in-use gasoline pump in the Nebraska panhandle. It has been stored inside ever since.
Husky bought out Frontier Refining in 1968 and I suspect they had all active vendors rebrand to the Husky mark soon after, so it is believed that outlet stopped selling gasoline sometime before then.
The inner surfaces of the lenses and the body have the kind of dust accumulation that indicate years of sitting outside in all kinds of weather.
Recently an expert on these things has determined this is a reproduction, which came as a bit of a surprise to me. That would almost mean that Frontier was buying reproductions and sending them to their dealers.
The lenses are a bit over 13 inches in diameter and the body is glass.
Your opinions? Estimate of value?

I don't see a front-to-back seam on top of the body. It is consistent ripples all the way around except at the very base.
In the images taken from the sides it looks like there is a circumferential seam.

I have 2 of the aftermarket ripple bodies, these have the seam going across the top which the orig. do not - difficult to see unless your looking for it - this would make a difference as to your value question - have you looked at a lens out of the body to verify it is a gill lens ? .. ...

There is the slightest suggestion of a seam at the very top of the body but only in the smooth area next to the aluminum(?) ring. I can feel it when I slide my fingers across it but doubt it would even show up in a picture.
Looking inside nothing like a seam appears except the circumferential seam.
On the inside of the lenses, there is what seems to be assembly marks at the top center, they appear to be white squares about 1/16 or 3/32 inch sides and are halfway between the edges of the N and the T. As best as I can tell, they are aligned with the slight irregularities discussed in the first sentence.
I have not removed the lenses from the body. The ends of the rings are secured with a screw and what resembles the "post" part of a post-and-screw fastener. They look weathered, so I am hesitant to try separating things.

Usually the top of a repop frame has less pronounced wrinkles this one looks pretty consistent. I know my red ripple repop has less wrinkles at the top.

That body looks real to me. You would be able to see the seam in your original pics, if it was there. The lenses appear real as well, but it is best determined by looking at the back of them. If you honestly removed it in 1970, then I wouldn’t worry about it.
Sometimes there are snakes that tell you something is a repop, then the next sentence out of their mouth is them asking if it’s for sale. I’m not saying these were this person’s intentions, but it does happen.

Thanks to everyone who has participated in this thread started by a rank newbie! Seems like a great site!
As it was related to me, the expert who says this is a reproduction pointed out some details of the yellow portions of the horse-and-rider portion of the lenses. Is there a definitive image showing what a "real" lens looks like? How can it be proven that that image is not of a reproduction?
What does one look for on the back of (presumably out-of-body) lenses to determine authenticity?
When did reproductions of gasoline-pump globes start to appear?

If Scott says it's original Luke, that's all you need to know! Scott would know for sure, but I know a lot of mass-produced reproduction globes hit in the 1980's for those restoring pumps.

I bought mine 8 years ago at Mecum's Auction for $25000 plus 23 percent buyers premium. One sold at Barrett Jackson 9 years ago for $13000 plus premium and one lens sold this year at Iowa Gas for $18500 plus premium.

As I stated it's original. If no damage to the frame and both inserts good value would be north of $20K...

I've heard one sold for $40K plus. The original red ripple body is worth $7-8K alone. Good luck
