Hi Everyone. Great Site. I just came across this sears add glass off a National A-38 Gas pump. Anyone ever seen one or know the history. First one I ever seen. Thanks

Didn't know Sears had been selling gas since the 30s, but I do remember gas pumps at Sears Auto Centers in the early 1960s.

There is a Sears Oil Company in New York.
Don't know if your ad glass is from them or the retail giant.

I'm almost certain it's from Sears, Roebuck. That's the font they used in the late 50s- early 60s. I have seen it in aluminum signage on some of the earliest malls. Unfortunately, I don't have a Sears map from that interval. If I find an example in my postcards, I'll post.
I was very surprised on a Denver trip in the late 1990s to see a downtown store with gas station--with neon signage. Alas, in those pre-digital camera days I seldom took pictures.
I'd sure like to see a pump with that glass!

Here are a few more pictures I found:

I forgot about the Sears station in New York, even after I had corresponded with Mr. Sears during the restoration. He asked me to identify some equipment from pictures he had. Here is their website: http://www.hpsearsoil.com/

Has anyone figured out which company used this ad glass?
