I picked up this Union Oil crate today at a favorite antique store. I'm not familiar with the "UNARED" line of products, but suspect that it was part of the Aristo line? I would appreciate any info that anyone can provide.

I also picked up these two "McKale's - Kale". For those that don't know, McKale was Union Oil's largest independent west coast distributor. My grandfather knew him through his position with Union Oil. In 1952, McKale asked my grandfather to leave Union Oil so he could take over the McKale company, which he did. Apparently Mr. McKale was in poor health as he passed not long afterwards.

Got an A-1. It is missing parts but it is in good shape otherwise.

Another for the NJ collection, always looking for Guardian items if anyone’s got some. Also was able to finally land an English Greyhound Oil Can that I’ve been after for some time. Turns out this company modeled their logo after the Greyhound Bus logo of the US. By picking it up, I came in contact with the son of a guy who used to work for the company who filled me in on some of company’s history. Company went bust in the 80s but was apparently so highly regarded for its quality that it was given as a prize at local stockcar meets. The guy who won one of these meets turned out to be a higher up at one of the top oil company’s of the time in England, he took the oil back to his plant for testing and was so impressed by the quality, being more refined than the types he was selling, that he put in a large order furthering the reputation of the company as one of the best oils out there. Pretty cool!

Is Minuteman is now cleaning out British Columbia? Killer rack and 2 ft. R.I. truck sign. I bought this sign holder the other week at a local antique mall. I knew when I saw it what it was originally used for since I had an old photo of when they were in service. Coincidentally I had been pondering for a while how to display both sides of my sign in the new garage loft. Well that problem is now solved. Cheers, Don.

Very nice holder Don.....it always pays to study the old station photos, especially of one's favorite brand(s). How many folks looking at that bracket had any idea of it's original use? Now you have a complete, nice looking original display.
