I have had several people email me and say-"they should outlaw campfires in Ca." The fire started in an area known as Camp Fire, not started by a camp fire. That said it appears as though PGE may have had a malfunction on a transmission line, not yet proven. Our Grandson,23 years old had an apartment in Paradise, when told to evacuate he only had time to grab a bag of laundry and his lap top.He drove to Chico with the hundreds of others barely escaping the flames.Needless to say we are grateful for the fact that he made it out. Bottom line, count your blessings especially at this Thanksgiving season!

Glad to hear he's safe Frank. I was originally confused by the name of the fire too.....I kept thinking this is a helluva lot larger than a campfire.
I was informed of the loss of a great old gas collection in California earlier this week, which also breaks my heart. I know it's just stuff, but extremely sad all the same. I couldn't imagine losing it all.....just unfathomable. All of these folks are in my thoughts this Thanksgiving. I'm certainly thankful to be where I am, and that all are safe and sound in my life. Frank I was talking with a couple of friends the other day,and was saying you know we name or severe weather storms but when a state names their fires its time to look elsewhere. Well they got me straight that wasn't the case.
Glad all is well with you and your family.
My heart and prayers go out to others that has lost so much.

Glad your grandson made it out alive. So sorry that he and so many others have lost everything they had. Praying for those still on the missing persons list and for the families of those who died.

Frank: Glad your son made it out safely. I am wondering if David Doolittle was burned out a second time in 15 years or if Floyd, Who lives al little closer to Oroville may have burned out too? If so some great items were lost as these guys pick the area heavily and both had nice stuff. Thank god its raining and the fire is now out.....

Glad to hear your family is alright Frank. Last year's fires in BC burned an combined area of a small state. It appears to be the new abnormality, unfortunately!

I spoke with Floyd Last night and the fire came within a mile of his property and wind switched direction, so he was good. He was evacuated 10 days though. He told me David Doolittle also was safe, but the fire burned David's next door neighbor who had not done brush clearance. Did you guys See Merced Mutual ins went insolvent over this fire? We are slammed with new business and no place to write the coverage that has any brush exosure......
