A friend of mine just acquired this sign.... he's more into cars and I am no judge of value, so looking forward to what you guys think it might be worth.
Also kind of wondering if any of the 4 states are more rare than the others?
Thanks in advance,

A MINT one sold for almost 20k at the Iowa Gas auction in 2010. Given that this one is so rough, Id still estimate it to be worth many thousands of dollars. This sign does not come on the market very often at all, and is truly a spectacular piece despite the flaws.

I am not an expert, but I have seen more Idaho and Washingtom signs than Montana ones. But, that is not a scientific study...LOL

Alex, I've been trying to recall just how many Montana Chief signs I've seen... And I keep coming back to 2 possibly 3.....

I've seen maybe a 1/2 dozen Idaho... And a "ton of Oregon Chief's"....

Thanks very much for the information guys.
Got a few PM's and emails on the value.... they ranged from $2,000 to $7,000. I'm thinking the higher values are just a little on the optimistic side, but at least it will give him some idea as to the value.
I've only seen one or two Chief signs that were in much better condition in the now defunct Hot Rod Cafe in Post Falls, Idaho.
Pretty sure OTDP ended up with the Washington Chief.
Thanks again,

There was an Idaho and Washington chief sign at the hot rod cafe auction.Want a sign that's dime a dozen collect Texaco, don't get to many chances to buy any of the Chief signs.

Great picture G. Do you have any idea what it says above the "Washington Chief" part of the neon sign?

Heard a story once of the set of 4 signs that were in a private collection, but en route to a new owner were blown off a truck on the freeway and destroyed!

Looks to me to read "SAVE WITH", when I toggle in.
