Posting this for future reference.

After purchasing my Mack bulldog sign, I searched up & down (and even called a couple members) looking for pictures of an original. The only threads found here on OldGas, were ones with pictures that were hosted by other websites & were no longer viewable. So I wanted to post this so that anyone else searching in the future can be sure what they have.

I have been told there are very accurate repops out there... I have posted a picture below of the most common & obvious repop with a plain white back, but I am also told that there is a better repop version that has a cream colored back with old-style hangers & rack marks too. I could not find a picture of one so if someone has a picture, please post as it would be very helpful to others in the future. I know other OldGas users might be able to provide a little more info on this subject as well.

The real versions all have GREEN backs, and are all single sided with hangers on the back like the one posted below. These signs were used to hang on the top of the oval Mack pole signs, which a complete one (below) can be seen on Ebay (400550858497).

Bryce, I was lucky enough to find this beauty last year!
My buddy picked it up for me then just couldn't live without it so I sold it to him. He still has it smile

There are left and right racing bulldogs? Would each sign have two dogs on it or just one?

Wes... the one on ebay shows 2 dogs on the sign... which would make sense since mine is right facing & Tom's is left facing. You can see the back of 2nd dog a little in this picture...

Mine came from central Ohio... The previous owner found it at a yard sale 8 years ago. They said the lady selling it at the yard-sale thought it was a school mascot sign. The guy who bought it was a truck driver, so he knew what it was.

The other repo Mack sign (that I have seen sell for 3k) is a porcelain version with three or four mounting tabs on the back...it also has rack marks on the back of the sign (lines)...its heavy...shelved and is porcelain but was made about 15 years ago from what I have heard...Exact numbers unknown however I heard 75...Dont know if thats true or not. Its not marked/dated...the back is WHITE/CREAM colored. If I can find a pic I will post it up...not sure if I have one.

If you were to find a very nice original left facing dog, what would one of those go for? There isn't much info on the dogs, especially the one facing to the left.
