They took an original rusty Husky can and cut it and soldered it onto their favorite tomato can.

That's what it looks like. Sometimes they made the can flat and cut the top and bottom off to make a sign or a patch for something. The can took a donor to make it round again. It is a good thing to do if you find a really really rare can and want to make it somewhat right. Some guys are really good at making the cans look original by not using a donor can but most of the time they are shorter because the original can was cut.
