Not REAL old but--Roberts Transfer was located in Audubon Iowa,at that time they had "rights" From Des Moines Ia. to Omaha Ne.On Hwy.Ia.44-now Hwy 64.This was the first 40 ft.trailer that Roberts bought in the early 60's.I started with them in 1958,at that time they had only 3 semi-trailers.A 26 ft.a 28 ft.and a 32 ft.All were single axle and pulled by a single axle tractor. The 26 ft.trailer had a vacumn brake system.(whipper snappers are saying "what you mean Willis, Vacumn??"I picked this trailer up in Omaha with a fairly new White Mustang.I did 9 years wth Roberts before moving to Ca.and did 30 years with Shell on tankers.

Frank; Nice story. Bet you were a "proud daddy" getting to pull that trailer down the road for the first time and onto the yard. I didn't start truckin' until after deregulation. But have heard a lot of stories about those days.

Hi Chuck, lots of good and not so good memories of those days. The reason i left that co.was because i could see it was going down the tubes after the owners son took it over.Deregulation took it down a no. of years later.Hope all is well with you and yours.
