If you look at most of the other cars of the 50s era, they were HUGE! I guess it was the theory of"bigger is better!" Just look at the fins on some of those cars(59 caddy!) But neat little ride.

Good oil cans don't wait for people, people wait for them.

Why buy a economy car when gas only cost between 25 and 35 cents per gallon. Nashes were not popular in the 50's and 60's that why they went broke. The Metropolitan was made in England and imported to the US by Nash which was another strike against it. I'm old enough to think that the American people would ever drive the little tin cans that they drive now. I remember in the 90's going to used car lots looking for a Olds Cutlass with my girlfriend and her father who was in his eighties. We walked past a older Cadillac Coupe de Ville and her father pointed at it and said. " Now that is a car and what you should be buying." Mitch

That would have done it for me also I would have never bought a car made in England . I just bought new tires for my Ford and my wife thought I went to extremes to make sure they were made In USA.

Here's a 1958 Met with a matching custom trailer. Trailer is set up with a rumble seat for two people for parade use. My friend has been offering it to me...wants me to buy it.

Here's the production numbers for them.
Info on prod/sales of 1954 - 1962 Nash Mets - made in England -(actually NO 1962's were produced - but when sold in 1962 they did the paper work that they were 1962's, were in fact really 1961's.

MET PRODUCTION / SALES TO:

USA CANADA

1953 571 172

1954 11,198 1,964

1955 3,849 2,247

1956 7,645 1,423

1957 13,425 1,892

1958 11,951 1,177

1959 20,435 1,774

1960 13,103 771

1961 853 116

1962* 412 8

* No cars were actually manufactured in 1962 - just re-tagged 1961's as 1962 cars.
