I normally don't start the "Daily Roll Call" but, I have a question for some of the Members... So here goes... (the weather first... LOL)

Sprinkles here again, but temps are up some, low 70s... (It is Rose Festival here in NW OR/SW WA and that means some moisture)

Now my question, I've just been diagnosed with Type II Diabetes and as of right now I am trying to control it with diet. (and doing a terrible job, so far)... My Blood Sugars are bouncing all over the place... From the low 140s to over 200; one day to the next. And I feel like I am on a "Roller Coaster" for the last few days. One day I feel good (sugars down) and the next not so good (sugar's up)...

In the experiences of those that have this disease, is this normal? Will my Sugars, "calm down" (for the lack of a better phrase)?

Morning all, Wheres thursday, well T-way or Doc used to start it,now Kevin ,I have started a few. then on some days it doesn't get started -its messed up I guess. Sometimes I hate to start as I don't have any earth shaking news.
The weather s hot 81 at midnight last night headed for mid nintys. Its no longer cooling off at night much.
Sugar can't help you, other than you would be surprised as it is in everything. EXAMPLE Your tomatoes you are watching grow you can have a bunch but a teaspoon of ketchup is loaded.
HAGD-ALL!

Don't remember if I passed thru this morning or not. Was too busy tending to yard objects that could blow and get broken. We're expecting some heavy rains and winds tonight and wanted to be prepared.

Some earlier projected heavy rains came thru much further south, so that didn't effect us and now more. I hate it when things go bump in the night....oh wait, I didn't even hear a vehicle hitting a pole in front of my house the other night. eek

Dinner time....HAGE. smile

Well ten minutes after I posted last night on Wednesdays check in, we had a big hail storm. Lots of lightning, but fortunately the hail didn't damage windows or Bob's cactus. A few holes in tomato and bean leaves but that's ok. Since we were expecting worse stuff in the morning and this afternoon, Bob moved all his plants sitting on the back landing and under some homemade stands, into the barn at 2 a.m.

This morning storms were just bad thunderboomers, but while this afternoon storms skimmed us, 3.8 inch hail fell in the town my studio is (I'll be checking it tomorrow) and I think Paul up in Severn MD may have had a tornado get close to him.

No serious injuries in MD but a child was killed in Virginia from a falling tree.

Bob one key is getting a list of the foods with the hidden sugars (like the ketchup Loyd mentioned) and even milk (try unsweetened almond milk), I don't have it myself but my nieces husband was recently diagnosed as well. I tried the almond milk myself btw and it was ok. Did it to up my magnesium till I found out the nuts had more then the 'milk.'

Get your gp to recommend a nutritionist who understands all your other issues and work with him or her on figuring out what, when and how much. Once you get on a regular regime, I think the roller coaster will level out for you.

Don't know what they feel now-a-days about 'sugarless' stuff, (something to check with gp and/or nutritionist) but one thing I do sometimes in the evening, to signal my brain to stop wanting to eat, even when I had a full meal, is to chew a cinnamon sugarless gum, which seems to switch the 'mouth hunger' off.

Wow another exciting thing to add to your list! frown

BTW Bob just came in from taking all the plants out of the barn to go back on our sliding door steps. He made a big deal out of telling me there were 114 plants (these only the plants he didn't want damaged--he's got at least a thou others). Fishing for sympathy... smile And yes, I did offer to help him.

Last edited by Nicole; Thu Jun 13 2013 05:46 PM. Reason: If he had listened to me yesterday, and put his plants in the barn during the day, he wouldn't have had to rush out at 1 to 2 a.m. putting them in the barn

Howdy everybody,

Great day today. Lots of activity with the grandchildren.

Bob, my Mom is recently diagnosed also. She is having no fun with figuring out what she can eat. Wish I had answers for both of you.

May God bless us all,
Mike

Hello just a note in this forum to say I was at Kevin's earlier today to pick up a sign and avoid the delivery charges! Just kidding on the charges but as were on the way to Iowa it was a chance to put a face to the name and see his stuff in person. It is a very nice collection with many pristine signs, globes and restored and "native" pumps. All well displayed with more stuff on the way. The only downside was that we really only had a few minutes to shop and stop before hitting the road. BTW Devil's Lake is poorly named it's God's Country there, albeit a little wetter than normal but if you hunt and fish you'll be in heaven. Thanks for taking the time Kevin to show us around the garage.
Fred now in Iowa
Unfortunately won't be in Iowa for Iowa Gas

If your sugars are up and down, I would recommend you go to a specialist and get on some meds. I went through 3 different meds before we found some that worked for me. Counting your carbs and showing that to your doc with your levels will help them figure out the dose.

They are right . Go see the Doc. I have been type II for the last 4 years and I know how you feel. Problem is I almost waited to long. Three heart stints later. I don't diet ,but I watch the sugar in-take. Your medication is important and checking your blood sugar daily. I started checking blood sugar before I eat and then 30 min. after I eat. You will find out what foods will make you spike.
To answer your question your blood sugar may not level on it's own. Don't wait , Go to a specialist.
