I agree with Dave. I myself only pay 5% GST on items I bring to Canada for resale. At a later date I submit the 7% PST based on the price I sold the item for.

we sold 12 restored pumps--and we made up a less value recipet for the
persons that were from canada--would customs question me by claiming there
worth less than what iam selling them to my buyer

The value of the pumps and price paid is between you and the buyer. Whatever you agreed on and have in writing is what they will want to see.

Customs officers do have a pretty good idea of what items are worth. Because they will check craigslist, e-Bay and even call dealers to establish a value.

If they are suspicious of a deflated price. They will arbitrarily assess a value. They will levy a penalty equal to taxes being evaded on top of fines. Seize vehicles that are being used to import the items. After they have collected the taxes, fines and seized vehicles; they will declare you inadmissible, deny you entry and ban you from returning to Canada. Customs has absolute powers. Their powers of search & seizure, and civil forfeiture are absolute.

Now, is any of that worth trying to save someone else money? My motto is never lie to the Taxman. Not worth the aggravation.

The reason your company does not deal with a provincial sales is the oil sands are in Alberta, we do not have a sales tax. I agree with Dave about dealing with customs. Tell them how much was paid, and pay the government their cut. For a couple hundred dollarsit is not worth the risk.

Looking for Canadian Imperial and Canadian North Star.

I believe he has enough info from all enthusiasticly helpful parites. A little homework and he should be fine. I hate to see this turn into something behind kind helpfullness. I know I've learned something new.
