Hello all, I am new to the site and am looking forward to being able to discuss my hobby, ask questions and possibly help someone with what ever information i may possibly know. I have just purchased a post type island light and am starting to restore. I am curious if any one knows what type of bulb this lamp should use? It appears to be a large mogul or e39 base. Any suggestions or information would be great.

Tom, welcome... Did you post a photo and it just didn't show up?
There were so many different versions of Island fixtures, that without a photo ... We really are "in the dark"....

Most of the island lights and stationlighters used a mogul base bulb. I have found a few with the standard type base in them but the larger ones seem to prevail. A lot of the mogul base lights that I have come across, have had an adapter screwed into them to use the standard base bulbs. Not sure why? Cost--availability??

Mogul bulbs aren't as easily available as the smaller household ones,I've found.
