Are you talking about the guy who sold it, the bidders, or people who follow what others buy and sale? Did the guy who listed it sale it too cheap, or did the bidder pay to much? Really, what is your point?

It looks to me like it could be a new label wrapped on an old can? I was duped recently on a Mobil can made in the same fashion. It looked good in the pics as none were close up, but when I received it I knew right away it was fake. I emailed the seller that this age of can would certainly have been lithographed tin, not a paper label. I was able to return it for a full refund, luckily. The Mobil can was a VERY well done fake, and I'm sure it would have fooled any new collector.
The biggest mistake I see with this Texaco can is the modern fonts used on the back of the can, and I can see what appears to be a wrap line in the close-up photo of the can's bottom. And while I'm certainly not a Texaco expert, I've never seen any of these early green style cans that weren't lithographed tin.

He sold this can which is probably an original right at the same time. I'm betting this guy (seller) is the one who made this other can with a label. That can looks like a 60's wax can, clearly Texaco never made a green can like that. Along with the colors being comet green. LOL

How can you guys tell that is a paper label and not litho? If you look at this picture. The way the color follows the embossment and the small dent in the upper right corner, a paper label would not do this like this. Just a thought. I have no idea if this is real or not.

Look at the bottom edge of the can....clearly a paper label with some fake grease around the edges.

Here's the image you must be talking about. Again, I know nothing about this stuff and am just trying to learn. But, I aint seeing it Lyod. This is paper your all saying? It even has a glare to it like paint. Doesn't it? Just seems to me that ink on paper wouldn't look like that.

You'd be surprised what you can do w/ the new thin Vinyl label material that HAS been used by other Fake can makers.
Some high $$$ collectors have been fooled TILL THEY Received the cans.

W/ Vinyl wraps, use the fingernail to test if label is Soft.
W/ mine you can see a DATE Clearly printed on simulated seam.
Photo paper is easy to tell, Start/Stop of label.
Mass produced cans [Most vendors sell them] have Short Thin Paper Labels [1/16"-1/8" Gap @ top/bottom.

The thing I notice on the supposed pressure point is how the black lines are still nice and dark, while the green has been "rubbed off with use". Seems to me it would be uniformly worn, no matter what the color is.

Seller has three previous negative feedback for selling fake German world war II items. Another outstanding e-Bay seller and a shinning example of how e-Bay empowers these fools!
