Thats what I thought but there is no hole for a wire to go out of it.

looks like a flag mount to me This was my first thought. But they seem shallow for this. I love the fluting/ribbing on them! Do you have any info on how/where they were mounted? How many are there? Where they mounted in any way that they may have work in tandem.

They are designed to accept a ceramic fixture like the one pictured, the set screws hold it in and the wires went in the large hole on the side. Then the glass globe attached to that, pretty early items. I've bought a few over the years.  Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us
