I know this is a weird request but does anybody know where I can find some Polystyrene white styrofoam sheets? I need a 4X8 and 4 in. thick. The craft stores around here are only small pieces. It's not the blue or pink board at Lowe's but just big sheets of styrofoam. It can even be 2X4 pieces. Thanks!

I travel a bit and always check out the stuff that is available at Home Depots in the cities I visit. Regionally, the stores carry very useful items which might not be of use in another area. I have seen huge blocks of stryofoam at some of these stores. In most cases, they were used for floating docks. I'd contact your local Home Depot Contractor's Service Desk and see if they could special order it for you? Paul www.severngaspumps.com

Easiest way to cut is w/ a battery charger, dimmer switch & piano wire = Hot Wire Foam Cutter. OR Search on YouTube, here is 1; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCbEeW_n7OUWhat are you making????? I like using foam for Lost Foam Alum metal, Dry sand castings.

Thanks for the info. I'm only making a train layout and want styrofoam on top the board to cut lakes, roads, etc. in it. Thanks again for the ideas!

I'd cut holes in base & use alum screen to form lakes, then coat w/ plaster & fill w/ colored resin. Less messy & easier to form.
