Hello everyone.

Is there any safe way to pull a dent out of a handy oiler?

Have one that has some value, but has a dent. Not a huge deal.

I have no way to get air to it to create some pressure.

Just curious if anyone has some tricks.

Small suction cups??? I'm stumped.

Thanks!!!

It's oval. I can post a pic later when I get home from work. It's the rare Ithaca Gun Oil can. Thanks.

If you have an electric stove you can put it on an eye ( in a skillet ) with the cap on, the heat will pressurize the air in the can and pop out the dent. But make sure only a minimal amount of oil is in can.

Here is what I do:
take off oiler top fill 3/4 - 7/8 can with water and freeze but not with pressure which could bust seam of can. Freezing alone rarely bumps the dent out. I let the can warm a little under hot water -pour out melted h2o. Then I use a wooden popsickle stick etc. and levereage from the internal ice that is left to press out the dent. This method has worked for me with pretty good results.

This is the Handy Oiler I'm working on.
1st- I'm going to cut out the bottom
2nd- pop out dent with finger
3rd- epoxie bottom back into place
I've done this once with a 2 gal pep boys
can & it came out good..

For handy oilers I use a hand bicycle tire pump with a valve stem pressed against it and pump until the can pops out. I have made a jig for quarts but so far it really has not worked as there is to much leakage. I have used compressed air once but the dent had to much of a crease and I was to wimpy with the pressure as I did not want shrapnel to be flying.
