The tube brass pipe that moves up and down.....there is a lower and upper alum. Lock nut for lack of better word..that I guiess as you tighten act as compression? They were froze on and in place. I got them off(in pieces) but the brass pipe still won't move. I put pipe wrench on It trying get it to free up. Back and forth. Moves so very very little
So. The question is. There is a flange bushing top and bottom. How can I get these out. Or at least backed out
I fig as the big alum nuts are tight end if forces these bushings to clamp around the brass pipe to keep from leaking??
Does any one repo the brass pipe? Cut the pipe in middle and drive it down from the top??...
I need some pointers to get it the rest away apart

Like Bill said, there is packing along the bottom, if I remember correctly. I've used penetrating fluid and heat from a torch to help move these. I've had trouble with this before and got impatient and used a pipe wrench, which may wreck the brass pipe.

I have replaced the brass pipe before, I dont remember the exact dimensions, but its something you can buy from McMaster or Grainger. If you end up wrecking the pipe you have some options to fix.
