Anyone recognize this from a certain oil company, or just generic if it even is from a gas station. Could just be household or commercial light fixture sconce, but came with other filling station items.
Looking for photos, etc from 60s era Shell-A-Rama gas station and Pal's Diner, Rt. 17 Mahwah, NJ & US or state highway signs, shields, route markers

Wouldn't be for a globe with a mounting base less than 6 inches . . .

As Jim said, not for a globe. But, could still be from a gas station. Think of it mounted with the light bulb turned down. Could be a light fixture from outside a station restroom door. John

That picture was the wall part. The globe part inside diameter is 3 1/2" :
