Anyone ever make fake oil for display?

Want to fill bottle with something that look like oil.
Suggestions?

I used 2 different grades of oil in these because there glass and wont leak. If your display is in a heated area I would think water and a food coloring may work.

Why not just use oil? Make sure your spouts and caps have a good fit and keep your display out of reach of curious lookers.
And, if you need a quick fill for the lawn mower or snow blower--------

Normal oil bottles like Steven has feature a neck size the same as a standard Ball canning jar.

Therefore, you can use a standard quart canning lid inside the spout to seal the oil in the bottle.

That way, if somebody picks one up, or tips one, the oil will not leak.

it was fully my intent to make gaskets for the bottle to protect from spill. But thanks for this idea Jim!!!
