Hello all,

I have finally been able to land my first pump from a scraper in Alabama this morning. I don't know it's history but I know I am happy to have it now. Would like to know what kind it is and what plates would have been on the front of it. Thanks for all the help in advance.

When taking some of the old piping that was attached off, red dye diesel came out so that was interesting!

12" by 18" Fire Chief plates would be correct for this pump. Since it's a newer style A.O. Smith pump, I would suggest using a pump plate with the Circle R trademark at the bottom instead of the REG T.M. found on the earlier pump plates (from the fifties and forties). I'm not sure the exact date when these pumps were introduced, but they were used by Texaco starting in the early sixties.

I pieced together the Fire Chief pump, and I bought the porcelain panel with the original sign attached, and the sign has a revision date of 1962 on it.

Regards,

Jamie

Looks like you have porcelain doors. The color lasts much longer on the porcelain doors!!

Very helpful info, Jamie. I really appreciate it. Do you think it's worth getting these old decal off if so do add the proper pump plate?

I believe the 12"x18" pump plate will cover up most of the "Lead-Free Texaco" decal residue. Since the doors are porcelain, it wouldn't take much to take off the bottom decal. These porcelain pumps are great. They require little to no work to enjoy them (even the sign's holes are already drilled).

Regards,

Jamie
