Is there any preferred product that can be used for chip repair that looks good? I realize you can just use paint but asking for a better solution. Or even if there is, will that lessen the value?

I will touch up with a close match but never fill chip so if you sell it it can be easily seen where damage is.

IMO the defects just add to the history of the piece unless it's totally roached !

DO NOT REPAIR ANYTHING, it only hurts the value. I leave all my signs in their original cool vintage look.
If it absolutely bothers you, just use paint (on porcelain signs only), so it can be easily removed by the next owner.
There are a couple auction houses in my area that are removing touch-ups prior to the auction, so the buyers can see the true sign. I think that is a stand-up way to do business in my opinion.

Thanks for the comments. Pretty much is what I was assuming but I'd rather be sure.
