HI, Does anybody know anything about a Gulf Lucky Disc that was on the inside of the gulf oil cans????? Thanks, Daniel

The lucky discs came in three colors. One was blue, one orange and one white. I believe it was the white that was the toughest to get and it was worth more than either orange or blue. A dealer would find them inside some oil cans after he emptied it. The disc was too large to come out the hole that was punched into the can by the pour spout so he had to remove the can top to get the lucky disc out. The dealers had a catalogue with prizes listed and the different values of the discs were added up and redeemed for prizes. This was in the early 1950's.

I've never heard of this before. What was the approx. time period of this promotion? Was it for certain products or were all oil quarts of the day involved..........Dave
