I am running out of wall space about ready to hang signs on the ceiling. Ceiling is sheet rock so thinking of making some plywood panels to hang up first. Any great ideas? Framed panels? Let's see some pics of ceiling displays. Jim

I haven't done that yet, but have been to one collectors place where the ceiling was covered in pump plates! It was very impressive.

flat ceiling or vaulted?

my garage ceilings are vaulted... i'm actually going to go look at a large bundle of barnwood this weekend, hope to line the entire ceiling with it and then put some of my signs on the ceiling.

will post pictures when its done, but that may be 3 months from now, lol!

I hung 2 6' strip signs from my ceiling last month. Both signs were tin and I made sure parts of the signs were screwed to the rafters with sheetrock screws.

Slight vault to ceiling. I like the barn board idea. I just finished up our small cabin and used barn board on the walls. Fun to work with. Expensive to buy in our area. $1.50 to $2.00 a running foot. I was lucky that a friend gave me a trailer load. J

I agree, the barnwood is a bit expensive... it costs about the same in this area. this weekend i learned a little more why.

luckily I found a guy that tears down barns and his usual buyers are all full right now. the reason these guys charge that price is because they have to pay someone to pull it all apart and remove all nails, etc. and for tongue & groove boards they have to remove it without destroying the tongue.

i asked what they do with it if they dont pull it apart & sell it, and he said they burn it because of the deadlines they have to get the structure cleared from the teardown.

I offered him a weeks pay for one of his crew to pull it all apart, plus $200 for him. He accepted it. so I should be getting the entire barn's floor worth of wood for $600.
