We saw the Union Pacific 844 steam engine stop in Washington, MO at their Missouri riverfront depot. Ground shaking awesome!

Jim, If you think 844 (4-8-4 wheel arrangement) shook the ground just wait until Union Pacific finishes the restoration on Big Boy 4014 (4-8-8-4 wheel arrangement). 4014 is about half as big again as 844! There is nothing like a live steam locomotive!

The beautiful sound of a steam whistle....melancholy and strong. Thanks for posting Jim.
"Be specific, ship Union Pacific!"

My late girlfriend's brother was the engineer on that in the 1990's. Her and her father (his dad) got to ride in the cab with him to Laramie,50 miles. I was in the hospital recovering from a heart attack. The UP keep it in the roundhouse here in Cheyenne where they are also restoring 4014. Mitch
