I listed 6 separate items for sale on ebay Sunday night.I got a confirmation email from eBay showing all 6 were now LIVE!
3 of them each had a buyer asking me a question soon afterwards...I answered them, but those 3 auctions are not showing up at all in the ebay search page when I enter each item number for 2 days now.So I entered the the exact title..."Nothing Found"...what?
I click on SEARCH A SELLER,and enter my ID name.Only 3 of the 6 are showing,with the 3 in question not showing...what?
So I called eBay today and talked to Pakistani man named "Bob" who said that when an eBay question is asked,it puts the item in limbo, and does not not show up in a search, wait 24 hours for it to refresh...what?
So I went to the exact ebay forum I listed those 3 auctions in,and scrolled and scrolled and scrolled and found none of these 3 auctions appearing at all.
This is the first time I've ever listed items for sale on eBay..Is this normal?
Two ebay friends also did a search on their own for my missing 3 auctions and can't see them at all.
The only way I can see all 6 of my auctions,is if I go to my profile page under,SELLING,where it lists all 6 auctions, but shows the 3 in question are awaiting a response on bold red letters from me about a question, but I already answered them sunday night...what?
What's going on here?

Facebook.

Well it looks like eBay was right. All my auctions, especially the 3 in question are now appearing this morning when called upon and searched.
Apparently asking the seller a Question does put them in limbo for a bit.
Odd..

So what would happen if people started asking the buyers of fake/fraudulent items questions? Would those items disappear for a few days? For instance "Do you know how old your item is?" or "Are you sure this item is original and not a reproduction?" Just curious.

Good questions,I don't know,but would imagine so.

It could have something to do with the fact that you are a new seller but not sure. I sell quite a bit on ebay and frequently get questions. My items do not disappear even temporarily but I have been selling on ebay for years.

Sold a lot of items on ebay (for years), and have never had this issue where someone asks a question and my listing goes dark. Maybe because of your new user status but I doubt it.

I did have a new problem pop up this month that people should be AWARE. I had an item listed both on ebay and facebook. Got a question on ebay, next day sold item on facebook, and immediately took down off ebay. Ebay sends me nasty letter stating, ----- Jan Xth: Recieve message from seller, Jan Xth: Item removed off ebay; OFF E-BAY SALE, may be charged final value fee! ---- I called ebay and yelled at them and supposedly they are not charging me for something I sold on facebook.

Moral of the story, never remove an item off ebay immediately after getting a message from an ebay user, wait at least two or three days and hope your item doesnt sell in the mean time. OR don't use ebay at all, but unfortunately it still has a pool of buyers that is hard to ignore.

----- Here's the email: -----

Following our last email about offers to buy or sell outside of eBay, we determined that you still aren't following the policy.

As a result, we've taken the following actions:

Please be sure to manage any current listings and to complete any open transactions during this restriction. After 7 days, your account will no longer be restricted, and your listings will be unhidden from search results. During this restriction, you can still:
- Send email related to recent transactions

- Perform other administrative tasks

To ensure that further action isn’t taken on your account, please review our offers to buy or sell outside of eBay. Please take the next 3 days to make sure your selling activities follow these guidelines. If you don't, your account(s) may be subject to a range of actions, including:

I use Ebay periodically but the hassles and fees and change to PayPal payment methods have made it a pain in the you know what. I use it less and less every year .Facebook specialty pages seems to work well for me and there are no fees involved. I only ran into a problem once when someone shipped some cans that I purchased that were damaged and she did not stand behind it. Poor packaging was the cause . Other than that buying and selling is problem free . I just make sure I ship everything Priority Insured and the items are packaged properly to prevent damage . Plenty of air space for crush is all it takes . And fee free .Try it you will like it . Ebay is nice because of the amount of audience that is available to view your items , but at a cost and a hassle sometimes.
