Catalog Fortune #1
Some seldom-seen S&P's and mini-oil can banks. Fun to look at, but also sad to think about the circumstances under which all these goodies are coming to market. I believe Bill was around 70-years-old, when he passed. Indeed.....we are only temporary caretakers of our goodies, aren't we? John
John, Well put. We are all here for a limited amount of time.

I had the pleasure of both buying from and selling to Bill prior to his passing. I had not previously known the extent of his collecting beyond shakers and banks, but seeing the wide variety of items he collected and preserved we are all lucky that these items were saved for future generations. I think that the best we can do as collectors is what Bill did and be caretakers of the items we have. As you stated we are only the temporary owners of the items we collect.

Auction ends Saturday evening.
Good to see strong prices in the petroliana sub-categories of S&P's, banks, thermometers, etc.

Ditto that. My wallet is a tad lighter!
I have to admit as I watched the auction throughout, I had no idea pole thermometers brought that kind of money. It was very educational to me from that standpoint.
